Last week's winners

All right ladies! Tomorrow I will be posting last week's winners~ Sorry I've been a "loser" blogger; I was crazy on Friday trying to get our store's calendar/newsletter done! Hope you all are doing great. Don't forget to come weigh in this week~even if you've missed a week (or two).

Where are my Girls at?

I will be the first to admit that I have looked on the blog to see if there are any new posts, if not signed out and went about my cyber way but I can't today! Why you ask? I am a loser!!! I lost exactly 1 lb. Which I really needed because I felt like Erin McFattyton! Last week was PMS and you know what that means (choc. and chips, the terrible Double "C") then my grandmother tells me the shirt I was wearing made me look "fatter", she hails from New Jersey so she can say things like because it is the norm up north! To say the least my confidence was a little shattered. But no longer I am only 5 lbs. away from my goal. Horray! So, I hope everyone feels good this week and hope to hear from ya'll soon. Have a skinny and healthy weekend!

Sunday's Meeting

Sorry to be posting about Sunday's meeting so late in the week... It seems like everything in my world is coming to a head--this week!

*Girl Scout Cookie sales are ending this week (& I'm the troop leader)

*Basketball season ends this week (that means extra practices and a tournament on Sat.)

* My husband is emceeing a HUGE event on Thursday- It has taken our whole family's participation to help him get ready (recording, making posters, etc)

*Wynell is out of town this week, and we miss her!

Anyway, back to the meeting...

It was a little sad, that only two people were able to make it on Sunday. Thank you Katina and Beverly for staying. Also, Thank You to all who called to let me know that you wouldn't be there.

Luckily, our BIG Loser for the first 6 weeks WAS There~

Congratulations Katina!
Katina lost 5.59% of her body weight in the first 6 weeks~ Way to go! Her prize for this is $15 in SU Bucks. (Good timing with all the FUN stuff headed our way!)

In second place is Becky Bray, who lost 4.89%. Becky gets $10 in SU Bucks. (Becky is rackin' up the SU bucks... she also won the "Post the Most" Contest on our Message Board!)

The next three winners ...uh...losers... are:
Alice~3.92%
Wynell~3.68%
Erin~3.63%

For me, the most exciting thing about this six weeks is that we have lost almost 100 pounds as a group! As Katina put it, "That is almost a whole person!" Keep it up, ladies~Let's try to lose "another person" in the second half of our contest!

Is it over yet?

Have to say that last week was a ride. After wanting to commit diet-suicide on Sunday (no weight loss), I binged on cookies. Yeah, they were sugar-free (still haven't eaten a bite of food that's not on my diet plan), but I ate 2 servings instead of one. Tried to rebound on Monday, but I felt heavy all day (Oh, come on! Those cookies were wafer thin!!). It was as if I could feel the earth's gravitational force pulling on me. Forced myself to workout anyway. That's what you're supposed to do, right? But with every repitition of every exrcise, I was on the verge of tears and just wanted to stop.

You'd think Tuesday would be a better day... not so much. Got up and got ready for work as usual. No big deal. Drove about a mile, noticed I forgot my phone. Drove back to the house... phone was in my pocket. Grrrrr. Got back in the car, drove about a mile...where's my badge?? Drove back to the house. Grabbed my badge and drove to work. Got out of the car, grabbed my gallon jug of water..... drove back to the house. You gussed it. I was wet. And, it wasn't just a little spot or two that would dry by the time I got into the office. I was soaking wet from about the belly button down! One leg! And I'm not talking just a little bit, I was wet right down to the panties. Now, not only did I drive home clothes wet from the waist down, I was also in tears.
Good heavens (I told myself), it's just a little water what is the problem..... (the whole event was funny, but not until after lunch!) I made it back to work and finished the day rather uneventfully, except I had an appointment later that day. Yeah, missed that too.

Wednesday had to be a better day, right? I survived the drive to work (and only took one trip). It was my regular routine, but by the time I made it to the office, I wasn't feeling so well. Took an trip to the ladies room, only to find that my friend FLO(W) decided to join me.... A WEEK EARLY, nonetheless. NO WONDER I WAS WALKING AROUND LIKEA BLUBBERING PSYCHO!

This week started off a bit better. Lost 5 lbs. at weigh-in. Hopefully that's a sign of good things to come. Hope everyone is doing well! HEY!! Where was everyone today? Only two of us showed for the meeting!

Happt Valentine's Day

Hope you all are having a great day!

Dear Lord, Help me be good!!!

Well, I wish I could say I just fell off the wagon, but I fell off, down a mountain, and crashed right into Willy Wonka's factory!!! It has been an awful week and I missed weigh in last week so I am going in today to take full responsibility for the numbers. A good scale tells no lies! But I can say that even with that bump behind me ( not my bottom! Last week!) I am feeling better about this week already. And I am really looking forward to the upcoming meeting. Hope everyone has a healthy week and can't wait until Sun. to see you!

Heavens to Mergatroid!

I demand a recount!! Not really!! Where my prize AT?? :p
Though I wasn't happy with the number, I am glad it's coming off.... Jody reminded me that the BIG numbers on "The Biggest Looser" are all coming from the men... But still, Becky's voice is in my head, stuck like an earworm singing.... "I'm gonna loose more weight, I'm gonna loose more weight..." get out, Get Out, GET OUT!! *banging self on left ear*

Have a great week everyone! And keep that goal in sight!!

YOU on a Diet Intermediate Workout

So I found this video of a very good 20 minute workout. I really thought it was good. And who does not have 20 minutes. Don't forget 30 minutes of walking EVERY day. "They" say it is just as important as sleeping (I don't know about that) BUT... anyway.... let's get to work, workout that is!

Love ya
jody

Let's get Back on Track!

Ok you guys-- Sorry I haven't posted this week~ No excuses, other than my crazy-busy life. I will post last week's winners tomorrow morning. And, to make up for being so late, this week's prize will be extra fun!

Only two of you came in to weigh today. (But those two did great!) Don't give up now! Please make sure you come in either Monday or Tuesday, so we can get everyone entered for the weekly prize.

A couple of you have suggested Biggest Loser Meetings... I was thinking about Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3:30, after Book Club. As long as that date/time will work for a majority of you, we'll plan on it. Please post a comment to this post, to let me know if you can be there! Thanks,
Ami

This Week's Winner...

Whew! What a week it's been! I've done some research online for the past couple of days, and have discovered that our group is completely normal (well, as far as this contest goes anyway)-- Half of us lost weight, half of us gained weight, and 1 person stayed the same. As far as weight loss statistics go, that is completely normal~The "trick" is to get back to being as enthusiastic as we were the first week; it just shows us that if we want to lose weight, we have to work for it!!

And the winner is................
Beverly!
~She lost 1.36%~
Way to go Beverly! Come on in and get your goodies!
Runners-up are:
Selena~.888%
Terri~.887%
Wynell~.447%
Becky~.239%
Katina~.220%
Great job!
This week we actually gained 5.4 pounds as a group... (Remember, I gained 3 of them!)...
I have a "personal" goal for us as a group-- I would like to try to average 30 lbs. lost each week (remember, we lost 45 the first week!)-- That would have us lose 360 lbs. and .12% group body fat loss as a group in our 12 weeks... Of course, we (I) have some catching up to do after this week!
Are ya with me?!?

Thursday, January 24, 2008

What a week!

It sounds like we are all in the same boat so to speak this week. Yesterday was "P Day" and it hit me hard. It was a good thing I picked up some 100 Cal Hershey's and more Baked Chips! I'm really trying hard to stay on track in spite of it all. I have a headache today so it will be a long day. I hope everyone else is feeling better(no more funk being passed around!) and keeping up the great work. I was so excited to see that we had lost 50 lbs. the first week. I know by the end we will have lost the weight of half a dozen poeple at the rate we are knocking off the poundage!!! Good luck everyone hope to hear from you soon.

A New Week; A New Start!

Okay, so we didn't all have the results we'd been hoping for this week. (I know I personally GAINED 3 pounds-- I TOLD you sick weight loss was not the way to go!) But, we are in this for the l-o-n-g haul. It's not how we look/feel after this week, it's how we look/feel after 12 weeks. If you are not happy with your results, try something new, eat a little healthier, work out a little harder (In my case, start working out!) Anyway, I am back on track.....

I've GOT to start exercising, starting tomorrow. :)

How is everyone doing?

Ok, so after a BIG pity party this weekend, I am really trying to get back on track.

How is everyone doing?

We really need to post and lift each other up. I know just about everyone had a bad week 2 lets help each other through it.

WE CAN DO! Remember bathing suit time!

Love ya and thinking of each of you.

GRRRrrrr!

WhUt!! Becky! Week 1 top loser!??
CONGRATS, Sister Becky! Great job!
Congrats to every one!! I love hanging out with a bunch of losers!
This week is going to be hard for me. I haven't weighed in yet this week, and typically, week 2 is not the week you get mind blowing results. Okay I can deal with that, so I'm not going to be too terribly upset when I weight in later today. But guess who came to visit me only moments ago...? That's right Aunt Flow. And the Witch is giving me serious attitude. You name it, it hurts. It's cold outside, I have a crazy work assignement this week and I have CRAPMPS!! But I'm going to try to stay as focused as possible. Guess the scale will tell. Oh well. I'm going to go pout some more. (WoW! That took a turn, huh?!)

Seriously, every one have a great week and keep up the good work!!
See ou in the funny pages!
Katina

Have to Fess UP

Ok, bare with me while I list how bad I was this weekend!
Saturday: Pancakes (DH made them can't say no)
Movie Popcorn WITH butter!!
Hot Dogs and SMores
Sunday: Johnny C's stuffed mushrooms, a LOAF of bread, and a Sangria
got to mom's and she had made HOMEMADE HOT OUT OF THE OVEN CC. Cookies!!!

I swear the devil himself is out to get me.

I think I was totally discouraged about not losing any weight this week.

SO here we go again. I am not going to quit. I have now confessed my sins and will do several miles (yeah right).

Seriously got to get to the gym!!

Love ya all thanks for the support

Fiber One Bars

I just have one thing to say about them - - YUMMY! (And NINE grams of fiber in each one.)

Go get you some.

I do believe Week 2 is going to be a bust

Well Girls I have fallen off the wagon so to speak. I can guarrantee Week 2 is going to be bad for me. Hopefully I can get my self back into the frame of mind I need to be to get going again. I hope everyone else is doing GREAT! Let's just keep it up. I think the trick may be keeping going, screw ups and all. Have a great week!

Sunday, January 20, 2008

Week One Prizes

Here were the prizes for Week One.
I didn't do as well this week. (I actually gained .3 pounds. Boo!!) Don't take that as me quitting though. I'm just as determined, if not more. Consider it your pass for this week! (Tee hee hee!!!!) I'll let you ladies have a chance for Week Two's prizes.
All kidding aside, I hope everyone has a great week. Remember, it's the ultimate goal that matters the most. You HAVE to want it. How bad do you want it? How badly do you want to lose the weight? I know it's hard. It wasn't so hard putting it all on, was it? Just know that if you put your mind to it, you *can* do it.
Have a great week. I hope to see less of you soon!!
Smooches,

Congratulations to all you Losers!

I am so proud of all of you~ First for all your hard work this week, and also for being so supportive of each other. I believe that the support we give each other will be what makes this game successful for all of us.
When I left Scrapbook U Tuesday evening, there were still a couple of people that hadn't weighed in yet. I will go by the store sometime tomorrow to look over the list and post the winner of the week.

I'm a LOSER!!!

I was so pleased with my weigh in this morning! It really showed me that some changes in my eating habits can make a difference. I went to HEB to stock up on some more good stuff! I know it helps having a great support system and motivation. I don't know about the rest of you guys but my husband tries to be supportive but no one understands like other women. Don't get me wrong he is wonderful but he just doesn't understand how something like weight can get you down. I am so glad that we are doing this and doing it TOGETHER! Hope to hear from some more losers! Have a great day.

Erin

The Poll

Hey Girls,
Don't forget to cast your vote on the fun poll that Jody set up for us- It's in the top right corner of this blog... I almost didn't see it, so I thought I'd make sure you all didn't miss it too!
~Ami

Good Morning!

Okay, so I think I am actually healthy today, for the first time in over a week. Let the workouts begin! I was actually pleased with my weigh-in on sunday, but I am sure that I lost it all in the "bad" way, since i was not able to eat much all week, and then had a stomach-virus on Saturday. Hopefully this week will be some good, healthy feel-good weight loss!

How many of you went with Jody to belly-dancing class last night? I cannot wait to talk to her to see how it went! I can only go every other Monday, so I am planning on trying it out next week. It sounds like so much fun, and a way to exercise without "thinking" about it.
Hope to see you all soon!
~Ami

Encouraged

I was encouraged by my "weigh-in" yesterday. I told Jody before I weighed that I really blew it on Saturday. I went to Pepe's Diner and ate the enchilada plate. It was so good! I came home and entered into my Slim Fast food log on the computer --- I had 2200 calories for the day (supposed to have 1500 per day!). I had done really well all week staying under 1500, so I guess it all balanced out, I guess. I had lost weight for the first week!!! Oh, by the way, I got right back on track on Sunday and felt good and encouraged by the results.

Hopefully, we can all get right back on track when we "really blow it one day". Sometimes that keeps us going!!

Have a great week and be healthy!!

Doing the happy dance!

I weighed in.

I'm happy. Just the inspiration I needed to make it through another week. I can only imagine what exercise would have added to my results.

Yes.

(And can I just add that I had so much fun cropping Friday night? Deal or No Deal was SO much fun!!)

LINK TO HOW TO LOOK GOOD NAKED...SORRY!

The link messed up on the first post...Try this instead: How to Look Good Naked

HOW TO LOOK GOOD NAKED...

Hi, Girls! Sounds like everyone is doing good so far- Keep up the great work and we will all be big losers in March! They already have swimsuits out at Target...Good motivation! They also have the awesome Reeses peanut butter hearts, which I absolutely love, but resisted yesterday...I reminded myself of Becky's saying about nothing tastes as good as thin feels...I did good all week, but fell off the wagon last night. I am back on track today and looking forward to adding a few workouts this week.

As far as the title of this post goes, I wanted to encourage everyone to check out the new Lifetime show called How to Look Good Naked...It is great! It is all about realizing we are all beautiful no matter what size we are and it also helps women to realize that our perception of ourselves is usually not the reality. Check it out and let me know what you think...It has really made me feel better about myself, but I know I will feel even better when a few lbs. come off and I start working out and the flab starts to firm up. Have a great week!!!

Saturday, January 12, 2008

Good morning,
Had a lot of fun last night and I was so happy that we had a good healthy meal, thanks Jody.
Salena you may want to try and drink a hot cup of tea when you want a snack late at night. I have tried the green tea and it's pretty good and it seems to help. My goal is to not eat anything two hours before bed time, Oprah does this she says she won't even eat a grape......

Fri. morning

Had a good first week, I will be in on Tues. to hop on the scales because we will be camping this weekend. I am going to need some extra prayer and strength this weekend, we always tend to eat pretty bad when we camp. We ride dirtbikes and you tend to get starved and pig out! I am bringing my Nutrigrains and planning to have a grilled porkchop instead of hotdogs and hamburgers. And I will just go into the camper and cry when they break out the s'mores-sniff-! I know I can do it, its just hard making the right choices! Good luck to everyone this weekend and looking forward to seeing how everyone did over our first weekend! God bless.

Erin

Good Morning Losers!

How's it going everybody? I've been staying with the program. I must admit I do have one problem it seems. I tend to really skimp on my calories all day and blow them in the late evenings/nights---which is the worst time to eat. I'm definitely a late snacker. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I know some of us LOSERS are playing tonight at the store. Ami, any idea what's for dinner? I'm a little worried about "messing up".

Have a great day and weekend girls!!!

Doing good on eating now just need to do the NASTY

That's right, that Nasty "S" word; SWEAT!

cal:1,030
fat: 36
H20: 32oz. (OOOPPS)

I'm Baaacckkk!!

So sorry I have been be MIA lately... I have been SO sick! The good news? I haven't been eating any bad foods. The bad news? I've barely eaten anything! So, weighing will be interesting! I'm sure my body thinks it's starving itself, and is holding on to EVERY ounce. But that's okay-- I have 11 more weeks to make up for lost time. Workouts start Monday!

Good Gravy!

mmmmmmm..... gravy!
So how's it going for everyone? I've had a long week, like I'm sure most of us have. I managed to go to the gym all 4 days this week. I accidental over slept Wednesday morning, but I made up for it with an evening class. I remembered very quickly how good it feels to workout, but I forgot how hard it is to actually get there. I busted my hieney & got finished with my assignment so I could get an extra day in the gym (don't usually workout on Fridays, but what the heck, I could really use the prize ...*giggle*). Don't worry, that'll rub off really soon :0)

I'm soooooo glad that we're all doing this! Win or lose, thank you all for being willing to put your butt on a scale and encourage each other!!
See you soon!

P.S.-wanna lose weight fast? Lock yourself in a room with Aunt Becky and laugh for a week! That ought to burn some calories, build some stomach muscles, increase your heart rate and release some endorphins!

Good Morning

I woke up at 5:00. A.M. I know! Jody - - are you freaking out? I just couldn't sleep. My system is way out of whack.

So - - I thought I'd send you all good morning greetings and tell you all I hope you have a beautiful day.

*smooches*

Hello, just testing......

Wed. afternoon

I feel really good about how things have been going the last couple of days. On Monday took Presley on a wagon pull again, yesterday I didn't get to walk but I did go to HEB and pushing around a cart full of food and a toddler felt like excersise by the time we got home! I have been really keeping an eye on portions, for example tuna is very good for you but you are not suppose to eat a whole can and 1/2 a roll of Ritz crackers! So I have reading lables and checking servings. I have decided on my reward to myself WHEN(March baby!) I reach my goal; a fab new haircut and a smaller size swimsuit that I will be shopping for while my husband is home with our daughter! I can't wait and am not afraid to say let summer come with all its swimsuit glory!!! Hope everyone is having a great day and can't wait until we get together again.

Erin
P.S.
I have been reading "Your Best Life Now" by Joel Osteen and a couple nights read across this and wanted to share it with you.
"God wants you to have a good life, a life filled with love, joy, peace, and fullfillment. THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL ALWAYS BE EASY, BUT IT DOES MEAN IT WILL ALWAYS BE GOOD."

test

just testing

Day 3 - We are going to OWN you!

Wynell - don't be scared. You can do it!!

It's just another day.

Let's kick some fat!!!!!

Doing great and then...

a headache. Not one of my migraines. Just a bad, bad, bad headache. I was on track with my food and stuff for the day. As I was cooking dinner, the smell got to me. I got so nauseated, I couldn't take it anymore. There was no way I could choke down a bite. I get that way when I get bad headaches. David sent me to our room to lay down and he fed the kids. (My husband rocks.) Then things went from bad to worse around 9:00. My youngest started puking. GREAT!!!! I had started to get hungry. But not anymore. So, I finished today very short of my required WW points. Not good, but, I did what I could.

Also, I've made no less than 25 trips to the potty today. I am a tee-teeing machine. Flush those toxins out!

I'll be up for a while tonight, tending to my poor little sick one. I don't think there is much left in his tummy at this point. *sigh*

I think about each of you often. I know we all face struggles and trials. We can do it. The question is... How bad do you want it? You've got to want it. You have to want this to work or it won't. It's that simple. Hang in there girls.

One of my favorite sayings as I went through WW before was:

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.

End of day two

So how did everyone do today?

my cal: 1210
fat: 42

Still NO exercise, I mean not even think about breaking a sweat. Oh well, no guilt, tomorrow!

Did do alittle better on Vitamin.

Hey and guess what??? Bill signed up for this big exercise thing at the Y. So excited. We are both going to be feeling so much better.

I don't even what to tell you what the @#!!@%&**! body fat, BMI and weight was. But he agreed he still was not healthy so that is good.

Oh my REALAGE: I am 38.1 (calendar age 36) OOOPPPSSS! Ok so new goal to get my age down!

Have a good night.
SWEET DREAMS (calorie free)

Day Two

Well day two is almost over and here I am still on plan. Wahoo! It's been a little tough today, I've been feeling kinda yucky and that always makes me want comfort food. But I've stayed the course and actually got my water in too. The last two were hard so I added the Crystal Light To Go packets to them. It made it much more tolerable. As far as exercise goes that has been a big fat 0. Becky and I were going to try and walk yesterday and today but things just didn't work out. We are still shooting for Thursday though. I did go back to the Shannon Clubhouse and signed back up. I love going there. If anyone ever wants to join me just let me know--I know it's free for a week of something like that. Hopefully I'll be there tomorrow "working on my fitness". I hope everyone had a GREAT day!!!

Selena

Reduce Stress

Johnna sent this to me today and I wanted to share it with ya'll. I am a stress eater, plus stress will kill us.

CHRISTIAN WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS ...
An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."
1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and un-clutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about it, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.

1st day over

Thanks Wynell for the great Slim Fast site. I did not think I was going to be able to use it because it did not have some of the things I eat all the time, ie. Fiber One bars. BUT you can put them in! I just took all info. from box and now it always comes up on my list. YEAH!
Really easy to use give it a try.

BUT what is a real eye opener is that it tells you the Vitamins, Calcium, Sodium, etc. not just fat and calories. Man I thought I had a good day, but I only had 35% of my Vitamin C today and NO Vitamin A! Yikes.

Remember we want to be healthy not just skinny (but I would take skinny, hee hee)

anyway, ended the day with 1,170 calories out of my 1300 and 29 g fat out of my target of 39, and and 56oz. water.

Not too bad. We will see tomorrow. Dream SWEET Dreams!

Update on Twix

When Kelli and I went to Wal-Mart this evening, we found the same boxes for $2.48. We also found Quaker Quakes Rice Snacks - cheddar cheese flavor (70 calories for 9 mini cakes). They were really good.

When I put my food for the day into the Slim Fast log, I had 800+ calories for the day out of the 1500 calories I should have. I still have an evening snack to go (600-700 calories??). I don't think so!

Wynell

I found...

Hope everyone is having a good day. At Walgreen's I found TWIX 100 calorie bars-7 small bars for $3.49 (that's about 50 cents per bar). I ate one this afternoon about 3:30 - it was good and is holding me until suppertime.

When I got Kelli for lunch today, we went to Sonic and yes, I got a large Diet Coke with extra ice. But Kelli & I also got grilled chicken salads with light Ranch dressing - it was very good and filling. Oh yeah, when the Diet Coke was gone, I added water to my cup of ice!!

Last year, Candy and Kelli and I all went to the Slim Fast website - www.slimfast.com and entered our info to get a meal plan for us. They give you a daily meal plan for a week at a time (of course they include their products), but you don't have to go by that. Under the "Tools" tab, you can enter your daily food intake, and the program will calculate your calories for you. If your food is not in their list, you can choose something close or if you know the nutrition info, you can add it to your personal list. It isn't that hard once you get into it and learn the navigation (a couple of times should do it). We all 3 used it individually and it helped keep track.

Thanks for the encouragement from those who commented on my post this morning. I am going to try 2 Diet Cokes (instead of 7 or 8) a day with water being the main liquid.

Have a good evening, and tomorrow is another day!!!!

REALAGE.COM

Bill and I did this about a year ago and it is totally cool!

Just go to www.realage.com
sign up (it's free) and answer ALL the questions (warning this takes about 20 minutes) and oh yeah, BE HONEST.

Anyway it tells you what your real age is not your calendar age! Soooooo humbling. THEN they give you all these things that can help "decrease" your age. Put this down in your journal, make goals, then repeat the test on March 30th.

Let's all live longer!!!

Love ya

Day 1

I would just like to start by saying what a motivated bunch of ladies we are! It sounds like everyone is already on the right path! Go us! Yesterday I pulled my daughter in her wagon down our street, I don't know if it was the wonderful weather or the pictures Jody took of me that inspired me to do so, but I felt great and my 2 yr. old loved it. I did OK for dinner last but I did pass my first test of temptation! My husband made cookies and not just any cookies but my favorite, Turtle Cookies! I had water instead! This morning I did good, I had a Special K bar with my coffee. Which was hard because I love all that breakfast has to offer. I am also keeping a food journal which I think will be a huge help because it will make me think before eating because I will have to account for it later! Good luck to everyone for the rest of day.

Erin

First day, really

I left SU yesterday and went straight to HEB. Got some nice fruit, veggies and some turkey
burgers. I figure I better get ready for the impulses to dive into the fudge someone sent us.
I have done great today. So Far... am motivated. I have been on WW so many times so I will try the higher protein way to lose the belly. I'm getting ready to do my 2 mile walking tape.

See less of you later.
Terri

Letter to Myself

I wrote a letter to myself in my composition book. It's on the first page. I kept it positive and wanted it to be something I could look back on and be encouraged by. (As if those pictures won't be encouraging enough!) I found some Sweetwater paper I'd bought a while back and used it to decorate my journal. It's the All About Me stuff. I love it! I've started Weight Watchers online. I'm doing my food journal on there. (So easy!!) At the end of each day, I think I'm going to print it out and put it in my "Me" journal. Good days and bad. It goes in there. I've found that writing everything down that you eat helps A LOT!

Okay girlies. Housework beckons.

*smooches*

Good Morning

I took Kelli to work this morning and drove right by Sonic without stopping for a Diet Coke!!! I came home and fixed a big glass of ice water. This was huge for me - I want to stay with it, but past experiences have begun with lots of water and end with giving in to the Diet Coke again. Pray for me that I will be able to conquer this - I'm like an addict (one Diet Coke and I'm hooked again!)
We are going to be doing this at church too, so Kelli is going to do it with me. She is going to help me clean out the kitchen of "BAD" food - she's stronger than I am. We will go shopping for the "GOOD" food this afternoon together. I think with the accountability to "2" great groups, I will be more committed than trying to do it alone. Thanks girls for being one of the great groups! Hope everyone has a great "GOOD FOOD" day!!!
Wynell

Day One

Well girls, I'm up drinking my morning brew, ready to start----ready to be a fat burning machine!!! How about everyone else? I went and bought a few healthy food items yesterday afternoon but plan on picking up some more today. My main goal for today is to make sure I drink my water--that seems to be hard for me being the Diet Coke/Diet Dr. Pepper addict that I am. But I'm gonna do it!

I hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!!

Bye-Bye Chocolate!

Becky and Katina Kissed the Kisses goodbye today! You may have seen these pics on our main blog, but are just too cute not to post here too!

I always forget Healthy can be Yummy!

I made brown rice, and had my daughter do the manual labor of pounding chicken breasts to a quarter-inch thick.
Then I mixed the brown rice with 1/4 cup diced tomatoes and mixed in 1/4 cup of part-skim mozzarella cheese.
We put a couple of spoonfuls of the mixture on each flattened cheicken breast, then rolled them up and secured with toothpicks.
I sprayed a skillet with olive oil, and cooked until the chicken was golden-brown.
Then, we baked the chicken in a 350-degree oven for 20 minutes, and YUM! Even my 3-year-old asked for seconds!
We served it with my new favorite salad, spinach leaves, almond slices, cranberries, and feta cheese.

A little extra work, but so worth it.

1st temptation

I did great with dinner. Turkey burgers, sweet potato fries, and water.

THEN... Bill makes apple turnovers for dessert!! I had to smell them baking. But I said no. There is still two sitting on the baking sheet. LORD be with me!

Thanks for a great day today. We can do it girls.

love ya

Welcome to Scrapbook U's Biggest Loser Contest!

Scrapbook University’s “Biggest Loser”

Okay, so we won’t have the TV lights, cameras, and opposing teams… But we will use the same basic premise that TV’s “Biggest Loser” uses. We will all be on the same team, to encourage each other to lose weight, be healthier, and feel better about ourselves.

As the team leaders, Ami & Jody will be your motivators: We will organize events to keep this game fun. We’ll be creating entries on the Blog set up exclusively for YOU to offer you different recipes, words of encouragement, and of course, the standings of the game. And, we’ll be linking to different sites that can offer assistance on reaching each of our goals.

~You may be asking yourself, “What does this have to do with scrapbooking?” Because you are here, you are starting a new chapter in your Book Of Me. Your chapter may only last the 12 weeks that this first game runs, but hopefully it will last much longer. Either way, take the opportunity to take pictures and maybe write a little throughout your journey. We can take a picture today, then again in 4, 8, and 12 weeks.

~Create a small journal to keep your progress in. Lots of fun things rhyme with “2008”, so you can even create a fun title! (Great, Ate, Date, Fate, you get it.)

~As members of Scrapbook U’s Biggest Loser Contest, you can post to YOUR blog! I will be sending you an invitation today, so when you get to your computer, you can start posting! (NOT just make comments to post, actually post your thought, ideas, etc. to the blog!)

Here’s the address: www.subiggestloser.blogspot.com. Be sure to check the blog frequently; we will be posting fun and informative things all the time! There is already a link to a website that is great, and could be very useful. Check it out…

Once you get your invitation, it only takes a few minutes to be set up to post! If you find a great low-fat recipe, an inspirational quote, or anything else that you think would be beneficial to the group, please share it with everyone! Yes this is a competition, but more importantly, we are friends. When we all lose, we all win! Hopefully, we will all be HUGE LOSERS in 12 weeks!

****Please note: Ami and Jody are not doctors, and have no medical training. The information we give you comes from what we consider to be credible sources. If you have any questions that we cannot answer to your satisfaction, please contact your physician.

Some other stuff…
The scale we are using offers all kinds of information…
Of course, it shows weight. While the contest is not based on weight, we will still be keeping weight statistics, so we can show the total number of pounds we lose as a group in 12 weeks!

The scale will also determine your body fat weight, body fat percentage, body water percentage, and body mass index. All of these will be important in helping you reach your health goals.

o Percent Body Fat refers to the number of pounds of fat, divided by your total body weight, and multiplied by 100 (Don’t worry, the scale does the math for you!)
o During weight loss, percent body fat doesn’t appear to be reduced as quickly as expected because total weight loss and total body fat are decreasing at the same time. For example, a person may weigh 200 pounds and have 40% body fat (=80% body fat). If loses 20 pounds, her body fat will drop by 4%, to 36%. But, that 4% is 16 pounds of fat, which is very significant!
o The body water/hydration level is also measured by the scale. Please note that if you workout just before you weigh, or you drink a large amount of water just before you weigh, it may affect your results (both of the hydration level and the body fat level).
o General health standards indicate that we should drink approximately 64 oz. of water per day from foods and liquids to maintains a healthy level of hydration. Maintaining a good hydration level will help improve your overall health and general feeling of well-being.
o Remember, to minimize the loss of lean-tissue, include regular physical activity, especially strength training in your weight-loss plan.

Watch the Scrapbook University calendar for events just for this group: We have several FUN things planned for you in the weeks to come!
